To build the future, it's best to know your history...
Four years ago, the Yavarhoussen Fund joined forces with the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (Inha) in Paris to set up a grant to encourage a young art historian to undertake research into the history of Madagascar's art.
Each year, a jury of Madagascan and French professionals selects the winner, who will be supervised during his or her research by the Inha team.
In this way, the Yavarhoussen Fund is helping to write the country's artistic and cultural history.

Bourse Yavarhoussen 2025 : candidatez !

Pour cette 5ème édition de la Bourse Yavarhoussen, les candidates et candidats doivent proposer un projet de recherche dont le sujet permet d’enrichir les connaissances sur histoire de l’art de Madagascar. La bourse peut être utilisée pour financer en partie une recherche en cours mais le projet soumis peut aussi prendre d’autres formes : monographie d’artiste, étude d’un corpus d’œuvres, de fonds d’archives ou photographiques inédits ou méconnus.
Les candidates et les candidats peuvent également présenter un sujet de recherche qui porte sur le patrimoine malgache conservé dans un ou plusieurs musées en France.
Le jury portera une attention particulière à l’originalité du sujet ainsi qu’au réalisme du calendrier proposé – le projet doit être mené dans l’année suivant l’annonce de la sélection du lauréat. Le lauréat ou la lauréate s’engage à livrer à l’issue ou au cours de l’année de bourse une production tangible (article, chapitre d’ouvrage, exposition, livre, mémoire de master, thèse de doctorat…) et à exposer le résultat de sa recherche à l’invitation du Fonds Yavarhoussen (conférence, débat, entretien…).
