The Yavarhoussen Collection includes many pieces which, beyond their artistic qualities, are important testimonies to the cultural, social and political life of Madagascar. Such is the case of a pastel by Henriette Eudel depicting Queen Ranavalona III during her exile in Algiers in 1899.
This work, along with numerous photographs dating from the sovereign's reign (1883-1897), is currently on loan to the Palais de la Reine, to coincide with the inauguration of a new temporary exhibition room dedicated to the last Queen of Madagascar. This partnership will enable us to share the riches of the Collection with the general public at the Rova, and strengthen the cultural offering of this important venue.
