As part of the Africa 2020 season (curated by N'Goné Fall), this exhibition is a carte blanche for Madagascan artist Joël Andrianoearisoa. In 18 stages, on the ramparts and in the towers of the ancient port city open to the Mediterranean, the artist presents a series of works in all his media: textiles, sculptures, metal structures, etc. The fruit of research and several study trips, the artist drew inspiration from the memory of Aigues Mortes, its lagoon and salt works, as well as from the writings of the Madagascan poet Maurice Ramarozaka (1931-2010).
The Yavarhoussen Fund was a sponsor of this exhibition, contributing to Madagascar's presence in the Africa 2020 season.
